Choir rehearsing at Grace Mennonite Church
Choir rehearsing at Grace Mennonite Church, St. Catharines. Conducted by Henry Willms; pianist is Lena Fransen. It appears that the choir is being recorded. This choir sang Russian hymns. The recordings were recorded by an organization in the United States for broadcast into Russia. Written on back of one of the copies: "This is a picture of the 'Russian choir.' During the 1960's this group of persons who could read Russian (and speak it) sang and the hymns were beamed to Russia for Mennonites living in the Soviet Union. This was during the 'Cold War.'" The following have been identified: Peter Janzen (back row, left), Abram A. Harder (back row, third from left), Jacob Rogalski (third row, left), Henirich Koop (third row, far right), Maria Fast (second row, fourth from left), Maria Neufeld (second row, fifth from left), Margaret (Enns) Koop (second row, seventh from left), Anna (Fisch) Willms (first row, third from left), Anna (Tiessen) Janzen (first row, fourth from left), Katie Willms (first row, sixth from left), Anna Epp (second row [?], far right).
