Participants at the Ontario United Mennonite Conference, 1958
Used in CM 6-46-1. Sent in by the Ontario CM correspondent. Informal view of participants at the annual UM conference, 1958. The byline in "The Canadian Mennonite" suggests the conference was held in Virgil, however the church in the background is St. Catharines United Mennonite. Participants are getting ready for a photo on the front steps of the church. At left a young girl twirls a hula hoop. The editor chose this photo instead of the posed one of the group (1998-14.295). Erland Waltner, president of Mennonite Biblical Seminary and guest speaker invites Rev. J. Wichert, Canadian board representative, to stand beside him. Some men visit, others begin to line up.

Wichert, Canadian board representative, stands behind him to his right. See report on conference in CM 6-46-1, 8.
