This is a photo of the Funk family home in Blaine Lake that was nearly destroyed in the Big Fire of 1929. Jacob is probably taking the photo. Anna and four of their children are are on the porch. The date could be early 1930s.

Ice Carnival

This is a photo of the mock coronation at the ice carnival in 1937 in Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan. Katie Funk Wiebe is the princess on the
left. In the center is Marguerite Perrin as queen. On the right is Fern Horner, the other princess. The dresses were made of crepe paper and worn over snowsuits.

Jacob and Anna Funk with three children

This is a photo of the shack by the railway line in Laird, Saskatchewan, which Jacob and Anna Funk bought for their family. That’s me (Katie Funk Wiebe) in Anna’s arms. I was also born in this shack. My two older sisters, Elfrieda and Anne, are also pictured. It is spring 1925.
