Mennonite Church Council of Mennonite Computer Users Records

Administrative records of an inter-agency council that standardized machine-readable data across the denomination and its related agencies, recommended hardware and software for congregational and conference use, and pioneered the use of email in Mennonite institutions.  The council was formed in the mid-1980s and dissolved in 1993 when coucil leaders determined that it had outlived its usefulness.

Mennonite General Conference Executive Committee Records

The Executive Committee consisted of a small subset of leaders in the General Conference, and later the General Assembly, of the (old) Mennonite Church that met several times a year to conduct business.   Although the executive committee of the Mennonite General Conference extends at least as back as the 1910's, these records pick up with exectuive committee correspondence in 1924 and executive committee minutes in 1942.  Other materials in this series include notes from the 1948 World Conference Planning Committee and an undated report of a committee appointed to draft a plan for the coordination of work among several boards and committees of the (old) Mennonite Church.

The governing documents, biennial and special meeting proceedings, and official statements issued by the governing body of the (old) Mennonite Church.  Included also are accessory materials to the biennial conferences, including programs, session materials, newpaper clippings about various meetings of the general conference, transcriptions of sermons and talks given, and other miscellaneous materials.

Researchers should consult the proceedings for additional statements and resolutions issued by the Mennonite General Conference, as the collection of statements here are not complete.
