This is a postcard print which shows a young girl wearing a flowery hat. The card was intended for use in Spring. It has the month of May inscribed in German on the upper left corner. The reverse side has a personal message in the old German script.

Black and white. Woman is wearing dark dress and is seated in low curved chair. Boy on either side of her. Boy on left is standing on low stool and leaning against woman, with his right hand resting on her left shoulder. Boy on right appears to be standing on edge of chair and is leaning on woman with his right arm around her neck. Both boys are wearing dark clothes. Woman is holding left hand of boy on right with her right hand. Her left hand is not visible. (Frau Abram Hamm and sons?) Abraham Regier boarded in Halbstadt.

Writing on back of photo sent home to Bluemenort

The words written on the back of Goerz-7: “Gruss aus” meaning “Greetings from” and the place name written in Russian. Gostovskaya is the way it might be written in English. Jakob Bergen sent this photo to his family in Blumenort, presumably while on a business trip for the store where he worked in Blumenort.
