Text of page one: “TAIWAN (FORMOSA) / ...When Japan lost the second world war, the island went to Nationalist China and is ruled today by Chiang Kai-shek. The official language there is now Chinese. The young people and school children speak Chinese (Mandarin) but the older people speak Taiwanese. The missionaries must learn both languages and much time is spent in language study. / 2. Most of the missionaries who had to leave China went to Taiwan. It is a small island about 165 miles off the coast of China; there are about ten million people on Taiwan. / 3. On the next page, there is a map of Taiwan and the mission work stations are described and marked on the map. The evangelistic work is done mainly among the Taiwanese-speaking people. The medical work is directed mostly toward the mountain people. / 4. The following missionaries are in Taiwan now: Miss Martha Boschman, Miss Margarete [Margareth] Peters, Miss Lena Peters, Miss Marie J.
