Incoming and outgoing correspondence and memos to / from the Executive Secretary of the Mennonite Board of Congregational Ministries.  Executive Secretaries who served during this time period were Howard J. Zehr (1971-1972), Ross T. Bender (1972-1974), Harold E. Bauman (1974-1977), Gordon Zook (1978-1989), and Everett Thomas (1990-1997).  Researchers should note that the records are subdivided into three chronological periods (1971-1979, 1980-1989, and 1990-1997).  Files in the first two chronological periods are organized alphabetically; files in the last period are filed chronologically and contain little incoming correspondence.

Mennonite Mutual Aid Association Civilian Public Service Demobilization Records

This series consists primarily of questionnaires returned by Civilian Public Service volunteers and providing information about marital status and family life,  health after service, and their plans for work or education after service.  This series also includes correspondence regarding the availability of loans for volunteers (about $75,000 in loans was available) and correspondence about timber land open for settlement by volunteers.

A small colleciton of assorted materials associated with the preliminary investigation of a denominational mutual aid entity. The collection largely consists of questionnaires to prominent men of the (old) Mennonite Church regarding the need for a program to provide aid in the event of property loss, illness and death. Other materials include the 1945 articles of incorporation of Mennonite Mutual Aid Inc., correspondence, reports, and miscellaneous materials.

Documents pertaining to the process by which John Howard Yoder and his employer, then Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS), navigated difficult personal and institutional relationships created by Yoder's sexual indiscretions and harrassment of women.  These materials were collected and created by then seminary president Marlin E. Miller.  Materials include documents pertaining to Yoder's ordination and church membership, contracts with AMBS, Yoder's papers on singleness, marriage, and sexuality and AMBS faculty members' responses, materials pertaining to Yoder's covenant group at AMBS, documents about his resignation, and correspondence with various parties during and after Yoder's period of employment at AMBS.
