This series includes programs for annual and biennial meetings of the Mennonite Publishing Board (1912-1958), as well as annual and biennial reports written by Mennonite Publishing House staff for the board.

The earliest meetings of the Mennonite Publishing Board are documented only through programs of the annual or biennial meetings.  Between 1933 and 1960, the Publishing House issued annual or biennial reports, some titled "Our Mennonite Literature and Books Service" or "Our Mennonite Literature Service."  From 1961 forward, the Publishing House issued annual reports titled as such.

This series includes the minutes, reviews, and other records created by members of the publishing committee, a body that made recommendations to the publisher regarding the content of periodicals, curricula, worship materials, and books published by the Mennonite Publishing House.  This series also includes one folder of minutes from an earlier body, the editorial council, that functioned simlarly.

A small set of records documenting various educational and professional development events sponsored by the Mennonite Publishing House.  Most important in this series are the materials associated with the Mennonite Writers' Conferences organized by Elizabeth Showalter in the 1950s and early 1960s.  Papers presented at those conferences and the periodicals associated with the conferences (Mennonite Writers' Fellowship Quarterly Reports and The Christian Writer) may be found in this series.

Records of the meetings between publishing executives in the (old)  Mennonite Church, the General Conference Mennonite Church, and later the Mennonite Brethren concerning joint publishing ventures.  Many of these joint ventures involved congregational resources and Christian formation / Sunday School materials.  Later minutes concern the integration of the (old) Mennonite Church's and the General Conference Mennonite Church's  publishing operations.  Researchers should note that minutes from the early to mid-1980s are sparse.  It is unclear whether this reflects infrequent meetings or an incomplete set of minutes.

In this collection reseachers can find information about the Wayfarer and Torchbearer Clubs, a Mennonite scouting program for youth.  Manuals, guidebooks, news about the clubs and participant kits can be found here. Two photographs of the Wayfarer Club's badges are also in this collection.

Christian Living Records

Records pertaining to the production and reception of Christian Living, a 48 page magazine focused on Mennonite home and community.  Christian Living launched in 1954 after the merger of Mennonite Community and Christian Monitor. These records consist largely of various editors' correspondence and subject files, including Daniel Hertzler, Helen Alderfer, Loren Lind, J. Lorne Peachey, and David E. Hostetler.  Although Christian Living was published until 2002, these records extend only to 1990.

Records documenting the last 40 years of the administration, production, and distribution of the (old) Mennonite Church's denominational magazine.  Materials consist of editor's correspondence (readers' correspondence to the editor as well as interoffice correspondence) and subscription records.  The Gospel Herald was published from 1908 to 1999, when it merged with The Mennonite under the latter periodical's title.
