Mennonite Board of Missions Dhamtari Christian Hospital Grant Files

Files pertaining to the financial administation of a grant received in 1990 from the United States Agency for International Development Office of the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad.  The grant was used to build an obstetrical wing for and make other physical plant improvements to the Dhamtari Christian Hospital in Dhamtari, India.

Organizational records documenting a Mennonite mission agency's efforts to gather information from and organize reunions for former mission and voluntary service workers.  These records contain not only administrative information regarding the mission board's strategy to engage former missionaries and service workers, but also include summaries of oral history interviews with and somewritten reminiscences of former missionaries and service workers about their experiences.

A small set of records from the office of the third secretary of the Mennonite Board of Missions, J. D. Graber, who served in that capacity from 1944 to 1966.  Materials include correspondence with C. L. Graber, correspondence regarding urban missions, miscellaneous reports, and telephone call log books.

Mennonite Board of Missions Executive Board Meeting Minutes

These records document the meetings of the primary governing board of the Mennonite Board of Missions.  The Board of Directors was instituted in 1971, replacing its predecessor, the Executive Committee.  Some of the minutes of Board of Director subcommittees and service committees, such as the Overseas Committee, Home Missions Committee, Communication Committee, Finance and Legal Committee, Personnel Committee, etc. may be found interfiled with these minutes.

The photographs consist of 668 folders of photographs which are arranged alphabetically by the name of countries and states (USA) from 1900 to 1971.  The photographs reflecting the work of the Mission Board itself and its departments, are found under the section of "MBM".  For example, "MBM Annual Board Meetings, 1949-1958".

Mennonite Board of Missions Executive Committee Governing Documents and Meeting Minutes

These records consist primarily of the minutes of meetings of the governing board for the Mennonite Board of Missions and supporting documents from those meetings.  Other records include the board's original by-laws and articles of incorporation, and subsequent regulations, policies, and certifications.  Also of note is a 1915 report considering "Sisters Aid Societies" to be organized by Clara Eby Steiner.  Steiner went on to implement and lead the Women's Missionary and Service Auxiliary.
