A modern style church building with slanted roof lines in both directions from a point aproximately two-thirds over from the left side of the front of the building. At the point where the slanted roof lines begin, a cross is mounted and projects above the roof. One low roofed house is partially seen to the right of the church beyond the fence. This church may have been located in Taiwan. The photo was taken by Frank H. Epp on his Asian tour.
An unidentified older man wearing a suit stands at right with 2 young men. Possibly the man at right is a pastor (in Taiwan?) and the 2 young men are new members of the church or workers in the church. The photos could also have been taken in Indonesia. In any case it was taken by Frank H. Epp on his Asian tour.
A news stand (kiosk) with a woman behind the counter and 2 men using telephones at the end of the kiosk. The man on the far right could be Fred Ediger, General Conference missionary in Japan.
A one-storey, white building (perhaps newly constructed) stands on a barren landscape with what looks like construction going on in front of it. Perhaps the site is related to security measures undertaken in Vietnam. Taken by Frank H. Epp on his Asian tour.
One story building with a van parked near it, possibly the same van as in 2010-14.553. The building probably belonged to one of the hospitals which Frank H. Epp visited in Taiwan on his Asian Tour.
Bill Siemens, holds the door open on a white 1957 Ford panel truck with a Red Cross sign on the door. Probably it was an ambulance for one of the hospitals which Frank H. Epp visited in Taiwan on his Asian Tour.
Large corner building (possibly an apartment building) in an unidentified urban area in Vietnam (Saigon?). In front of it is a large sign with a long statement on it saying that the Vietnamese people are grateful for the mutual aid given to them by the friendly countries of the world. On the left part of the sign are the flags of all the countries giving aid to Vietnam. Taken by Frank H. Epp on his Asian Tour.
Several men eat at a small table where a young woman serves soup and drinks, possibly located in an outdoor market. Taken by Frank H. Epp on his Asian Tour to Taiwan in early March and could be related to 2010-14.546 & 547, Epp's photos of nurse Helen Wilms at an outdoor market. Or, Epp could have taken it in Vietnam since his Report of his tour states he visited a market in Vietnam on March 9.
Sue Martens, director of the Nursing School in Hualien, Taiwan, stands in front of the hospital building in her nurses uniform. Dated March 5, 1966. Taken on Frank H. Epp's Asian Tour.
Hualien, Taiwan, missionary nurse Helen Willms (at right) is in the central market shopping for groceries. Several vendors and a young girl on a bycycle all look at her. Dated March 5, 1966. Taken by Frank H. Epp on his Asian Tour and possibly related to 2010-14.551 & 2010-14.547.
The Mennonite Christian Literature Centre in Hualien, Taiwan, which was the centre of Mennonite missions. It was located in a row of buildings (perhaps commercial). A man and a woman stand in front of the centre, perhaps the managers of it. Many bikes are parked in front of the buildings. It is dated March 5. 1966. Taken on Frank H. Epp's Asian Tour. Two copies of the photo, in the 2nd one with no writing on the back, the couple is seen more clearly. See CM 13-21-6 for another photo related to this centre.
Used in the CM 14-15-7. The Middle School built at Hualien, Taiwan with the help of US aid, receives children whose parents can afford to pay tuition from Taiwanese and tribes people in the area. It is a 3 storey building. Taken on Frank H. Epp's Asian Tour.
Used in the CM 14-15-7. One of the villages of tribes people in the mountain area of Hualien which reflect poverty of which there seems to be no end. Simply built, frail looking huts are in the background and children in the foreground. Taken on Frank H. Epp's Asian Tour.
Dated Mar 11, 1966 in Nha Trang. Portion of clinic-hospital and other worker houses seen from Vietnam Christian Service staff house. Taken by Frank H. Epp on his Asian tour in 1966.
