Aftermath of hurricane in Virginia

This photo is of the devastation left by Hurricane Camille in Virginia. In the foreground, debris and stones are left . A house is left standing behind the debris. In the background are trees and beyond that are hills.
The description on the back says, " Where barns and sheds stood, only rocks, tree and mud remained. Two rooms of this house were swept away, one being the bedroom where the owner was sleeping. He miraculously escaped with only a few minor injuries."

This photo is a member of the third choir from the Bienenberg Bible School in Switzerland to visit the USA demonstrating his skill on the alpine horn. This group toured the United states and Canada from July 28 to September 24, 1968.

Dr. Sakikibara

This photo is of Dr. Sakikibara speaking to an unidentified woman. The description on the back says, "Dr. Sakikibara, leader of the fourth Project Bridgebuilding group to visit the US. The 25 Japanese young people toured the United States from July 2 to Aug. 26, 1968."

Erma Friesen, R.N., and Linda Loewen, R.N. - Haiti

This photo is of Erma Friesen, a nurse in Haiti, inserting an IV into a scalp vein of a very young child. The child is lying on a table and is being held down by nurse Linda Loewen. The description on the back says, "Erma Friesen, Winnipeg, Man., a Mennonite Central Committee volunteer at Hospital Albert Schweitzer, Haiti, one of three night duty nurses at the hospital is in charge of the medical ward and the overnight ward. Most of her patients are small children with severe cases of gastroenteritis and must be fed intravenously. If the children are extremely dehydrated, scalp veins are used for injecting the IVs. In this photo, Erma (left), assisted by Linda Loewen, is attempting to insert the I.V.in the vein of the child's head. MCC presently has eight volunteers in the Hospital Albert Schweitzer area and 17 volunteers serving in Haiti."

Intercollegiate Peace Conference

This photo is of a session of the Intercollegiate Peace Conference which was held in the lodge of the Laurelville Mennonite Church, Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. Smith Griswold, former Pollution Control Officer for the Los Angeles County, was the keynote speaker.

Japanese Zither

This photo is of a Japanese woman playing a zither. The woman is seated on a low stool and the zither is placed on a slightly raised platform in front of her. The photo is taken outdoors in front of a brick wall. The description on the back says, "A member of the fourth Project Bridgebuilding group from Japan demonstrates her skill on the koto, a long Japanese zither with silk strings. The group toured the United States from July 2 - Aug. 26, 1968."
