This set of records documents the Mennonite Research Foundation's Project #25:  Mennonite Income and Giving, 1951.  Materials include tables, tabulations, correspondence, and questionnaires arranged by conferences, and miscellaneous financial materials contributed by congregations affiliated with the (old) Mennonite Church.  The results of this study were published in the Gospel Herald on May 26, 1953.

Records pertaining to Project 13, Mennonite family censuses conducted in 1940 and 1949-1950.  Materials consist of reports written from the data and select data collected from the census.

Questionnaires from the family census were discarded.  Remaining are only typed cards organized by conference listing the names of the male head of household, occupation, age, and years of education.

Researchers will also find in this series the questionnaires from a related study of unmarried Mennonite women and a report written from the data collected. These surveys provide detailed quantitative and some qualitative data regarding the family, occupational, religious and social lives of single Mennonite women in 1956.

Questionnaires, working documents, and the final report of Project #14, a study of participation in Inter-School and Inter-Group athletics by members of Mennonite churches. Researchers should note that this questionnaire only gathered information on men's athletics, and that it only covers congregations affiliated with the (old) Mennonite Church. Questionnaires were filled out by pastors of Mennonite congregations rather than the athletes themselves.

These records document the research process and findings of a survey on Mennonite congregational building projects undertaken between 1919 and 1949 Church Building Study (Project #9). Both new construction and renovations are documented, Records include meeting minutes pertaining to the project's administration, returned questionnaires filed by state, tabulations of results, the manuscript copy of the final report (which was also published in the Gospel Herald), and a small number of photographs of church buildings.

This small set of records consists primarily of completed questinonaires regarding Mennonite congregational contact with drafted Mennonite men (Mennonite Church in World War II, Project #3).  Also includes examples of pastoral letters sent to drafted men (a number of them from Waldo Mennonite Church (Flanigan, Ill.) and minutes and other records created by the Virginia Mennonite Conference CPS Support Team.

Records pertaining to Mennonite Research Foundation Project #1, a study designed to learn the annual incomes of a broad spectrum of (old) Mennonite Church members.  The rationale for the study was to determine whether Mennonite ministries were expanding beyond the means of church members, or whether the incomes of church members could justify greater expansion.  Materials include correspondence, income questionnaires from Mennonite conferences, reports, and miscellaneous materials.

Correspondence, questionnaires, and final summary of data for Project 19, a census of Mennonite and Amish men who accepted military service during World War II. The questionnaires record the church status of men who accepted military duty rather than the experiences of these men in the military.

Also inlcuded in these records are the results of a study of midweek prayer, Bible study, Young People's Fellowship, and other meetings at (old) Mennonite congregations.
