A "Baba" stone sculpture

This photo is of an ancient stone carving / sculpture called a "Baba". These life sized stone statues possibly linked to fertility cult were made by the Scythians. These objects are located near a burial mound in the village of Chortitza. To the right of the sculpture are flowers and trees are in the background.

Eating cherries in Muntau

This photo is of the female Russian translator that accompanied the tour eating cherries in Muntau. In the background are others form the tour also eating the cherries. A wooden gate is the background among the trees.

Employees at one of the stores owned by Penner and Schultz

This photo is of 17 men and women posing for a photo inside a store. These people are the employees at one of Erdmann Penner and Otto Schultz's stores. There were stores in Gretna, Morden, Plum Coulee and Tannenau (East Reserve). Seat in the front row far right is Johann Schroeder who worked in the stores on the West Reserve. The West Reserve stores were built around 1883 when the railroad came though Morden, Plum Coulee and Gretna. Schroeder worked in the stores unitl 1892 when he got married and started farming.
