Cornelius Penner and Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev

In a daring attempt, Cornelius C. Penner secured a reporter’s pass to a United Nations event in New York where Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev would attend. On September 23, 1960, Penner picked his opportunity to approach the premier to give him a petition to release his family. But within a few feet of Khrushchev, a UN security agent came between them, and a Russian agent behind the UN man grabbed the petition. Bald Khrushchev looked on with concern.

Further to the back another sign advertises "Boy's Dress Oxfords" at a price of $3.97 per pair. Along the shelves to the right is a display of briefcases, and below those are folded clothes.

This item consists of Friesen's Department Store, Saskatchewan. A strip of businesses along a dirt road. From right to left the businesses are "Rosthern Jewellers", "Shop-Rite", and "Friesen's Dept. Store". A group of people stand in the entrance to the jewellery store. Four cars are parked alongside the stores.

This item consists of T. O. F. Herzer of Canadian Christian Council for Resettlement of refugees greeting new immigrant [see "Mennonite Exodus" p. 398]. A group of people are stood in front of a train schedule for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company. On the board is three trains departing the station; the departure times, destinations, and sleeping carriages are also listed. A man is shaking the hand of a woman, while he is holding a small white box in his left hand.

Jacob Jantz house

This item consists of Jacob Jantz house, Saskatoon. The house is of the Mid-Century Split Level design. It has a two door garage half sunken into the ground. The front grass has been replaced with growing lands with rows of plotted plants.
