Articles, Addresses, and Sermons

Written and spoken texts produced by Ernest E. Miller. Includes both published and unpublished articles, but researchers should not assume that this series includes all of Ernest E. Miller's published works. Additionally, researchers can expect to find some interplay among these three categories. Scattered sermons, for example, may be interfiled with addresses or articles.

Commissioned Trips Records

Records documenting trips taken by the Millers while representing Mennonite organizations, including Mennonite Central Committee.  Trips include a 1946 European tour, an 1950-1951 tour around the world (often referred to as the Far East trip), and trips to India and East Africa from 1962 to 1964.  Documentation of these trips includes diaries, itineraries, send-off material for the 1950-1951 trip, manuscripts of papers and articles acquired in India and East Africa, and correspondence.

Correspondence

Professional and personal letters, including a large amount of double-sided correspondence between Ernest E. and Ruth Blosser Miller during the former's furlough and study periods in New York. It is evident that several different archives staff members tried to bring order to this series using different organizational schemes. As a result, the correspondence is poorly organized.

Education and Teaching Materials

These materials consist primarily of Ernest E. Miller's notes and essays as a student at New York University (1937-1939).  Also included are his teaching materials at Dhamtari Crhistian Academy, (1921-1938), student materials from New York University (1928-1929), and teaching notes from Goshen College (1939-1954).    Select records documenting the Ernest E. Miller Chair at Goshen College may also be found.
