Biographical history
Teacher, historian, map maker (cartographer), author. Grew up in the Rosenheim district, west of Rosenfeld, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Worked with Helmut T. Huebert to produce the "Mennonite Historical Atlas." Schroeder authored "The Bergthal Colony."

This photo shows the Hudson's Bay House near St. Anne, Manitoba built in 1872-1873, where the Mennonite delegates found accommodations in 1873 when they were looking for land for Russian Mennonites. The photo was taken some time after 1974. The building was later destroyed by fire.
