This item shows a group picture of approximately fifty delegates, representing Mennonite Church groups, Conferences, and service organizations, who met at the Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church in Winnipeg. The four service and relief organizations represented in the meeting called by the Historic Peace Church Council of Canada were the Board of Colonization, the Mennonite Central Relief Committee, the Canadian Mennonite Relief Committee, and the Non-Resistant Relief Committee. They met to coordinate Mennonite Disaster Service on a national basis. See the Canadian Mennonite, 2 October 1959 and the Mennonitische Rundschau 7 October 1959.
