Baptized in 1913 at Alexanderwohl church.
Drafted in World War I and spent a few months at Camp Funston.

Worked for Kansas State Bank, Gas Service Company, Consolidated Mill (bookkeeper and assistant manager), Jantz and Woolery (plumbers).
Died 8 October 1973 in Newton, Kansas.

Born 14 August 1765. Was a Lutheran from the Wartebruch near Landsberg (Gorzow Wielkopolski). Came to Brenkenhoffswalde around 1788-1790. Joined the Mennonites there.
Elected minister in 1802. Elected elder in 1810.
Migrated with the congregation to Russia in 1834, founding the Gnadenfeld congregation.
Died 20 September1841.

John F. Schmidt acquired the papers from the Goertzen family. It seems likely that they came from the family of Henry S. Goertzen' wife Mathilda Wedel.
