The description on the back says, "Erma Friesen, Winnipeg, Man., a Mennonite Central Committee volunteer at Hospital Albert Schweitzer, Haiti, one of three night duty nurses at the hospital is in charge of the medical ward and the overnight ward. Most of her patients are small children with severe cases of gastroenteritis and must be fed intravenously. If the children are extremely dehydrated, scalp veins are used for injecting the IVs. In this photo, Erma (left), assisted by Linda Loewen, is attempting to insert the I.V.in the vein of the child's head. MCC presently has eight volunteers in the Hospital Albert Schweitzer area and 17 volunteers serving in Haiti."
