History

Alexander Fast was a teacher in Olgino, Caucasus, South Russia. During WW I he served in the medical corps in Russia. He and his family fled to Germany during the Russian Revolution. Alexander worked with Mennonite relief agencies along with Benjamin Unruh in Karlsruhe. In 1928, he migrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he again worked on behalf of his people. He had his 2nd wife were houseparents of the Maedchenheim in Winnipeg for 3 years. They moved to Sardis, British Columbia in 1933. Just before WW II broke out in 1939, the family went back to Germany. Alexander Fast died in Germany in 1942. Selinde moved back to Canada with the family, and died in Vancouver.
