Administrative history

The EMMC Mission Board traces its beginning to the formation of the conference in 1959 and has been active in church planting in BC, Alberta, Ontario, the southern United States, Mexico, Bolivia, and Belize. Church growth happened through mission outreach and through migration to other communities. Some of the key leaders in this ministry were Jerry Hildebrand (1976-1985), Lawrence Giesbrecht, and Leonard Sawatzky. The mission board kept in contact with the constituent churches and was involved in pastoral transitions, mission initiatives, and mediation.
