Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Abbotsford was founded when Eben-Ezer Mennonite Church took the initiative to form an English-language congregation for members in their mainly German-language congregation. The first service occured on 4 January 1981 in rented facilities. In 1982 they completed a building project and moved into their own worship building.
