Born 4 Aug 1931, Chicago. Refused to register for military draft in 1951 and served prison term. Was attending Bethel College at the time. Graduated from Bethel in 1952. Master's degree in zoology from University of Kansas in 1954. Served with American Friends Service Committee in Orissa, India, 1954-1956.
Married LaVonne Godwin in India, 21 June 1956. Children: Kamala, Richard.
Taught biology at Bethel starting in 1957. Ph. D. from University of Kansas in 1966. Retired from Bethel in 1997?
