Accompanying caption in a commemorative scrapbook reads "The MENNONITE CHILDREN'S CHOIR OF WINNIPEG, recently returned from WALES, where they participated at the INTERNATIONAL EISTEDDFOD, held in LLANGOLLEN. The choir's performance of the three given test pieces, won them 2nd place in a class of 33 childrens [sic] choirs, and a 25 pound note was included in their award. Since learning of the tragedy in ABERFAN, the choir has designated this prize money ($75.00) to aid the Welsh people of Aberfan, and to the International Music Eisteddfod, for the perpetuation of the good - will [sic] established through music making in Llangollen, amongst nations of the world."
