Brubacher Family Correspondence

Six letters in German script from members of the Brubacher family residing in Ontario and Pennsylvania.  Correspondents include Johannes and Susanna Brubacher, Jacob and Maria Brubacher, and Heinrich Brubacher.  ALl of the letters have either been transcribed or translated.  Among the letters are also several photocopied German hymns with translations into English.

Joel Detweiler Letter 1850

The collection consists of the photocopy of the original letter written by Joel Detweiler of Champaign County, Ohio to Joel Kauffman of Mifflin County, Pennsylvania dated January 14, 1850, as well as a typed transcription. The letter includes local news and personal updates.

The collection consists of a copy of a letter written by Johannes Weber to his cousin Samuel Weber on January 10, 1865, and its transcription. The letter offers some local news about various people and a brief mention of draft and the government.

John N. Durr Papers

Personal and pastoral papers of a pastor and bishop of the (old) Mennonite Church who served primarily in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania.  Durr also served as the first moderator of the Southwest Pennsylvania Mennonite Conference. He also served as moderator of the General Conference Committee and the preliminary General Conference in 1897.

Durr's papers are divided into

Records pertaining to a ministry for Mennonite college and university students and young adults in the Philadelphia area.  The Philadelphia office seemed to have coordinated work with area Mennonite student fellowships, offered a Mennonite presence to area college campuses, organized workshops, and assisted with tasks for the general Student and Young Adult Services Ministry.  Records include correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, seminar papers, and a cashbook.
