Scope and content
This photo is a casual family photo in Tiegenhof , the birthplace of Olga Enns. The people are unidentified. The name Jakob Boldt is written in old script on the back of the photograph. This could indicate that he was the owner of the photo and that he is part of the group shown on it. It is possible that some of these people were relatives of Olga Enns but no further information is available.
Note: The original has been donated (Acc. No. 2010-025).

Archivist's note
See Helmut Huebert, Mennonite Estates in Imperial Russia, p. 447, where this picture was published with the caption, "Refugees collecting at Tiegenhof during the unsettled times." See also, Quiring and Bartel, Als ihre Zeit erfuellet war, p. 97. The title is based on these two sources. -- AHR, 2 May 2016.
Archivist's note
A complete description of the photo was published in Consider the Threshing stone: writings of Jacob J. Rempel, p. 61.
"In late 1918 a group of Mennonites posed at Tiegenhof, Schoenfeld District. Johann Enns stands far left and his wife Anna Rempel, is seated in front of the tree. Jacob's brother Peter is in the doorway in the background. Gertrude Schroeder, foster daughter of Johann Driedger and wife Anna, stands to the right of the tree. Jacob [Rempel] had already fled Tiegenhof when this photograph was taken. Eventually these people also fled the more isolated estates to Mennonite villages in Molotschna and Chortitza, probably not long after this photograph was taken." -- AHR 8 May 2016.
