Biographical history

Bertha B. (Bertha Burkholder) Bender was born in New Hope, Va. in 1896. She married Paul Bender in 1929. She was a teacher and former dean of women at Goshen and Hesston Colleges. She also taught Spanish and French in public schools in and around Goshen, Indiana. She served in Civilian Public Service from 1942 to 1943 and from 1956 to 1957 she served with MCC in the Netherlands. Bender died in 1978.
