Sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff in 1945

In 1952 Heinz Schoen, a survivor of the Wilhelm Gustoff sinking, published a book enitled "Der Untergang der Wilhelm Gustoff". This boat was torpedoed in the night of January 30, 1945 by Soviet U-boats. Gerhard Lohrenz in "Heritage Remembered" writes that "with 5000 passengers aboard, was torpedoed...in front of Stolpmuende...among the 4000 dead, were a number of Mennonites". [HR 23]
