BOX 32 FOLDER 4 LELAND A. BACHMAN (Leland A. Bachman (1907-1998) had various roles in administration within the [MC] Mennonite Church and its related institutions. At the time of this file he was “Co-ordinator of Public Relations” at Goshen College, then in summer of 1961 became Business Manager at Hesston College, Goshen’s sister college at Hesston Kansas. {1} Memorandum, Bender to Leland Bachman to Bender, June 9, 1958 [stationery of Goshen College]: about pledge card of Paul Horsch for Seminary building program. {2} Bender to Leland Bachman, February 25, 1959 [Goshen College inter-office communication]: the seminary was running out of its catalogues, and trying to call in any extra copies among campus offices and people; please announce this in “faculty news bulletin”. {3} TWO entries Leland Bachman to Bender, June 22, 1961 [to Mennonite Publishing House at MCC––Frankfurt in Germany]: reference to photography being done by “Mr. Benson”; instructions to Bender about furnishing some film from Europe; expected Bender back by mid-July. • • • CONTIGUOUS, Leland Bachman to Bender, June 28, 1961 [to him at MCC––Frankfurt in Germany]: full-page letter about Benson’s work and what Bender might do. {4} THREE entries Leland Bachman to Bender, July 28, 1961 [stationery of Hesston College, Hesston Kansas, Bachman as Business Manager]: mention LaJane Yoder and Orville Yoder; they had brought “the Stenorette” and Bachman had gotten it working; Bachman thanked Bender for bringing “this machine along with you” [from Europe??]; hoped Bender had pictures for Benson. • • • REPLY, Bender to Leland Bachman, August 2, 1961 [to Bachman as Business Manager of Hesston College]: glad it worked; had additional $14 expense for it in Germany; had not paid duties––explanation; about pictures and their cost.... • • • REPLY, Leland Bachman to Bender, August 4, 1961 [stationery of Hesston College, Hesston Kansas, Bachman as Business Manager]: sending check; a few remarks about the machine’s ownership and the coming “Goshen College film”....
