Anna Unruh was born September 17, 1897, on the family homestead south of Avon to Rev. Henry P. and Helena (Schultz) Unruh. She died March 23, 1994 at the Good Samaritan Center in Tyndall. Anna had attained the age of 96 years, six months and six days.
Anna lived in the Avon area with her family. She received her higher education at Freeman Academy and College. Anna moved to Freeman in 1976 and lived there for two years. She then returned to Avon and lived with her sister-in-law, Louisa Unruh. Anna became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in 1982, residing there until her death.
Anna was a member of the Friedensberg Bible Church, active in teaching Sunday school and in the ladies missionary society.
Thankful for having shared her life are her sister-in-law, Louisa Unruh, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
The funeral was held on Saturday, March 26 at the Friedensberg Bible Church, rural Avon with Rev. David Manning officiating. Rachel Van Duysen was organist and Monica Schultz was pianist. Vocal music was provided by a men's quartet and Julia Jaeger, soloist. Casket bearers were Larry Talsma, John Talsma, John Schultz, Verney Unruh, Willard Unruh and Robert Unruh. Interment was at the Mennonite Cemetery, rural Avon.
