Albert H. Penner was born in Newton, Kan. on Dec. 29, 1894 and died July 3, 1967 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital, Newton, Kan., at the age of 72 years, six months, and 29 days. He was the seventh child of the 14 children born to Rev. H. D. and Katharina Penner.

On May 21, 1911 he was baptized by his father, Rev. H. D. Penner, and joined the First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro. He attended Bethel College and Manhattan A. M. Returning to Bethel College, he graduated with the academy class of 1916.

He spent a number of years as a farmer in the rural community near Hillsboro and after 1941 worked in a Hillsboro lumber yard.

He leaves his wife Susanna and seven children: Randolf of Hudson, Wisc.; Vera Ruth, Mrs. Orville Kliewer of Dodge City; Hilda, Mrs. Richard Jantzen of Topeka; Eleanor, Mrs. Joe Lehman of Ft. Collins, Colo.; LaVeta, Mrs. David Habegger of Upland, Calif.; Lorene, Mrs. Robert Goering of Newton, and Loretta, Mrs. Victor Krehbiel of Salina; and 22 grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Walter Niles of Sedgwick, Mrs. Jake Dirks of Wichita, Mrs. Emil Haury of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Alfred Miller of Partridge.

The family suggests that contributions be sent to missions of the General Conference Mennonite Church.

Albert Penner married Elisabeth Riesen in 1919. They farmed and raised cattle, rural Hillsboro area, and were members of the Brudertal Church, Hillsboro, Kansas. Their children are Hilda (Mrs. Richard Jantzen) and Randolph. Elisabeth died in 1927. Albert remarred a widow, Susanna (Krehbiel) Loganbill, who with her first husband, Aldus Loganbill, had three daughters, Vera (Mrs. Orville Kliewer), Eleanor (Mrs. Joe Lehman), and LaVeta (Mrs. David Habegger). Albert and Susie had twin daughters, Lorene (Mrs. Robert Goering), and Loretta (Mrs. Victor Krehbiel). The family continued as members of the Brudertal Church until they moved into Hillsboro in 1941, when they joined the First Mennonite Church, Hillsboro. Albert died in 1967.
