David L. Hunsberger was the son of Noah and Minnie Hunsberger. Noah was the minister at Erb Street Mennonite Church for many years. When David was 14 they moved to St. Jacobs, where David lived for 55 years. In 1956 he married Katherine (Kate) Nafziger; they had three sons and one daughter. He was a professional photographer in the village for most of those years.

Jacob David Reimer was born in Kronsgarten, Chortitza colony to David Reimer Maria Neufeld. IN 1839 he married Wilhelmine Augustine Strauss and they had 11 children. He became an early leader in the Mennonite Brethren Church that was founded in 1860. His tombstone was later used as part of a fence. Family members re discovered the stone, moved it to the Molochansk Mennonite Centre in the former Molotschna Colony. It 2010 it was moved to the Mennonite Village Museum in Steinbach, Manitoba.

Gerhard Hiebert, M.D., was born in Berdyansk, south Russia to Gerhard Hiebert and Susanna Enns. Gerhard immigrated to North America in 1876 and in 1902 married welathy business man, Erdman Penner's daughter, Helena Penner. Together they had 3 girls Helena, Gerda, and Catharine. Gerhard got his medical degree in the Unites States and practised medicine in Winnipeg, Manitoba where his family lived.

Erdman Penner was a wealthy business man who immigrated to southern Manitoba in the 1870s from the Bergthal Colony in Russia. He lived in Gretna, Manitoba and was a member of the Bergthaler Mennonite Church. He owned several stores and was an early mayor of Gretna and supporter of the Mennonite Collegiate institute (MCI) in Gretna.
