Conference of Mennonites in Canada. Committee on the ministry
The Committee on the Ministry was created in 1963. The committee grew out of study commissioned by the Conference Executive on "Calling, Ordination and functions of ministers and bishops." The committee was to guide the conference toward a new uniform practise, as local ministers were authorized to do more and more of the functions earlier performed only by the bishop, and as congregations were moving to a one-salaried pastor arrangement.
The name changed to the Committee on Ministerial Leadership in 1983.
