Scope and content

The delegates at the 1936 conference planned a 4th Mennonite World Conference (MWC) to be held in the United States in 1940. World War II prevented this. Christian Neff, the conference pioneer, died in 1946. In 1948 Mennonite Central Committee, at the urging of the General Conference Mennonite Church, took the initiative for planning and convening the 1948 Mennonite World Conference.
