This is a photo of pig butchering which was always a big day in the life of our people. Here is a clear and factual photo of such an event. At the back grandpa with his cane, not active but present and closely observing. [HR 86]

This photo shows a group of people standing outside a farm building, around a table that holds the dead pig. Inside the building, through the open door, several more carcasses have been hung up.
Old Custom: Slaughtering hogs as an inter-family Mennonite community custom is becoming more and more rare in Canada as the urbanization of Mennonites increases. Used in CM 4-7-1. Duplicate photo included in file.
