The photo shows five workers at the nursery garden at Hoffnungsfeld. One worker has a spade, another a hoe, two appear to be seeding by hand and the fifth one is watering with a metal watering can. The planting rows have been neatly staked out and the garden is surrounding by a barbed wire fence, beyond which is bush.

Hoffnungsfeld, a provisional Mennonite home

The photo shows a Mennonite family of six standing in front of their temporary home in Hoffnungsfeld. One part is a tent-like structure, the other part is constructed out of corrugated metal sheets in a rectangular shape. The latter appears to contain the cooking area because a chimney extends from the roof. There is a grassy area in the foreground and the Chaco bush in the background.

The photo shows the Indians store in Hoffnungsfeld. Nine men are gathered in front of the store and a row of wagons pulled by teams of oxen are stopped on the road leading to the store.
