Administrative history
Mennonites settled in the area north of Swift Current, Saskatchewan in the 1920s. Worship services and Sunday School were begun in the late 1920s in the Gouldtown area. In 1932 they purchased a building and moved it to near Gouldtown for their own meeting house. This building was again moved in 1947 and in the following few years it was expanded and renovated. For many of these years in the late 1940s and 1950s the congregation was served by leaders from Herbert. The association with the Herberter Gemeinde ended in 1957 when the Gemeinde dissolved. In 1959 they organized as an independent congregation. From then onwards they had local leadership. The membership was 33 in 1962 and by 1965 it had nearly doubled to 61. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1976. In the 1980s they withdrew from the Mennonite conference. The leaders of the congregation were: Johann Nickel (1926-1962) [He served them from his post in Main Centre.], John Wiens (1937-1943), Peter Gerbrandt ([1957-1958]), Jacob Reimer (1959-1962), Elwin Epp (1963-1968), Isaac Krahn (1969-[1977]).
