History

Minister of the Bergthaler Mennonite Church of Manitoba. Founder of Manitoba Mennonite Pioneer Mission (now part of Mennonite Church Canada and known as Aboriginal Relations). Served as a conscientious objector in a northern Manitoba community as alternative service in the Second World War. Author of " Adventure in faith : the background in Europe and the development in Canada of the Bergthaler Mennonite Church of Manitoba", " En Route-- Hinjawäajis : The Memoirs Of Henry J. Gerbrandt", "Jacob And Sarah Doerksen Gerbrandt And Family" He married Susan Heinrichs in 1944 and had 4 children. In retirement he moved to Winnipeg as was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church.
