This photo shows a striped pole in the foreground and houses in the background partially submerged. The large building centre in the background is the Martens Mill. This photo is the second in a series of 3 when combined shows the flooding of the village of Einlage after the Dneproges Hydroelectric dam was built. Residents reestablished the village to the west of the site.

This photo shows a swelling river overtaking and flooding the houses on the lower bank of the river. A pole stands in the water to the right. On the embankment in the background are other buildings. The large building to the left on the upper embankment is a Russian church. Far on the right a smoke stack can be seen which is a mill and near it was a school. This photo is the third in a series of 3 when combined shows the flooding of the village of Einlage after the Hydroelectric dam DneproGES (also known as Dneprostroi Dam) was built. Residents reestablished the village to the west of the site.

Used in CM 3-36-3. Bulldozers, cranes & dump trucks being used by the men from Mennonite churches in the East to make a road through the flooded areas of northwestern Pa. & clear away mud & debris. MCC sponsored.

Used in CM 17-38-1. Female MDSer, Marjan Somer, MCC trainee from Holland, helps in Va. cleanup after hurricane Camille. She stayed with the Henry Koop family of Virgil, Ont. Cf.CM 17-43-1 & 1994-14.1233-1240 & 1994-14.2156.

Homes & damage around them. Note on back:"One of the residential sections of Lovingston was cover(ed) by a slide. Most of the homes were new, with large, beautiful lawns around them. Now there is debris, rocks & desolation."

Flood damage caused (near a river?) by hurricane Camille in Va. Note on back: " The rocks, trees & mud that washed from the mountainside deposited in heaps up to 30 feet high, covering roads, bridges & homes."

Houses damaged by the hurricane; two rooms of the main house shown were swept away. Members of the MDS crew are at work in front of it. "...only rocks, trees & mud remained."
