This photograph shows a group of 5 men posed in front of a bush, wearing their Forestry Service uniforms. As identified by Abram Dueck, on reverse of photograph (l- r): David Dick, Uncle Abram, John Matthies, Heidebrecht, Abram Dick. This photograph also appears on p. 54 of Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia. There are three copies of this photograph, one slightly larger than the other. The larger copy was from Peter Warkentin, Anadol, 1905-1908. The two smaller copies are 12.5 x 9.3 cm and 13.5 x 9 cm. It has a brief German greeting on the back, (translation) Sending you herewith another group of men. You will probably know all of them. Greetings from Abram Duecks. Nick Peters' photocopied photographs also has two copies of this photograph.
