A farewell party

Taken at a farewell party. During the 1920s many families emigrated from Russia, going mostly to Canada. Relatives, friends, and play-mates had to part. They did not know whether they would ever see each other again. The young people often organized a farewell event. It was a bitter-sweet experience. [HR 215]

Cornie and Margaret Wiebe farewell

A farewell was held for Cornie and Margaret Wiebe seen standing on the left of the picture. They are pictured in an outdoor setting, under a tree with a table in the foreground. Margaret served as a youth Sunday School teacher for years and was an active council member. An unidentified man (holding a large decorated cake with a house and a tree and the inscription "Happy North Home" on the cake) and woman are standing to the right of Cornie and Margaret. A wrapped gift is also on the table.

Farewell for Bahnman family

This is a photo of a Bahnman family with friends and family at a farewell party. In 1903 a Bahnman family from Schoenfeld emigrated to North America. This photo shows a good cross section of our people at that time. Notice the men in their hats or caps and the older women with the "Hoove", but non for the younger. [HR 80]
