This slide show consists of 111 color slides depicting the people of Central America, including the countries of Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico. The slides show the context of the average person, their farming techniques and how people are affected by military conflict in their area. Bishop Romero (Catholic) stood up for the people and was assassinated for his stand. MCC is working with people in these regions to improve their situation. This slide show includes a script but the audio cassette is missing

MCC Slide Presentation-People of Peace: The Mennonite Churches in Central America

This 23 minute slide show consists of 136 color slides showing the people in the Central American counties of Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua as well as the Mennonite Church leaders and their activities in these countries. 8 different North American Mennonite and Brethren in Christ Conferences have worked in the area planting churches in the 1950s-1970s and in 1988 had 7000 members with national leadership. Slides include people involved in the Mennonite church in these areas. Rafael Escobar, Brother Sebastian, Jose Maria Tzub Pedro Pop Coc, the church building known as Igiecia Evangelica Menonite in Guatemala, Francisco Machado, Andres Aranda, Nelson Garcia, Maria Andrea Mateo, Blanca Maldonado, Gilberto Maldonado, Damian Rodriquez, Isaias Flores, Nicolas Largaespada, Enrique Reyes, Yolanda de Chamorro, Ignacio Gutierrez, Veronica Argueda, Vicente Obando, Clifford Fonsca, Jose Duran. Refugees in El Salvador

This is a photo of a man holding a naked child with more children behind him. In the background is a clothesline with laundry and simple houses. These people are some of the 600 refugees living in Guazapa, El Salvador. The local Beachy Amish Mennonite Church, along with Amish Mennonite Aid and MCC, is the only group aiding refugees in this location.

Standing in the ruins (El Salvador)

This is a photo of a Salvadoran peasant standing in the ruins of his home. The army had burned it and others nearby out of suspicion that area residents sympathized with guerrilla opposition. Women, children and elderly died. "The Face of Change in Central America" is a new MCC study resource that focuses on the needs and sufferings of Central America's poor.
