Biographical history

David H. Neufeld was born on October 6, 1895 to Heinrich P. and Maria K.(nee Kroeker) Neufeld in South Russia. He was ninth of 11 children. In 1902 at the age of six his family immigrated to Canada where they settled in Plum Coulee, Manitoba. He completed grade three in school but went on to attend night school and to study independently. On November 15, 1914 he married Aganetha Enns. Their marriage produced six children. In 1925 Neufeld was called and ordained to the ministry at Bethany Mennonite Church in Lost River, Saskatchewan. In 1937 he and his wife moved to Mayfield, Manitoba where he started the Mayfeld Mennonite Church. This church later became part of the Rudnerweide Church (later known as the Evangelical Mennonite Missiona Conference). During World War I he ministered in the Conscientious Objector Camps. He moved to Winkler in 1956 and then returned to Lost River in 1970. It was here that David Neufeld died on April 11, 1975.
