This is a portrait of David and Abram Dick in the uniform of the Red Cross Alternative Service men in Russia in World War I. Abram Dick is sitting at the opening of a studio rock formation with his arms folded across his chest and David Dick is standing to his right. This photograph also appears in Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia by Lawrence Klippenstein and Jacob Dick on page 121. A translation of the German note on the reverse: "Here come guests. If you know them, write down what kind of people these are. A hearty greeting and kiss from your son Abram. Be seeing you! " The names David Dick und Papa, Papa's cousin, Isaac's son, are written on the reverse.
