Biographical history

Born 17 February 1888 in Bosworth, Missouri (or Attica, Kansas?). Parents J. W. Schindhelm and Mary Shannon.

Married Charles W. Nicodemus, 26 December 1911. He died in 1951. Two sons: Don and Charles "Bud" (died 1961).

Graduated from Newton High School in 1926.

Graduated from Bethel College in 1930.

Founded Newton Area Creative Writers Fellowship in 1930.

Extensively published poet. "Kansas Gold" was probably her best-known poem. Member of Kansas Authors Club and Chapparal Poets of Kansas. Member of First Christian Church, Newton, Kansas.

Taught elementary school in various area schools.

Died 23 November 1987, Newton, Kansas.
