A group picture of the Mennonite men in Alternative Service

This photograph shows a group of 16 young men serving in the Alternative Forestry Service in Russia. They are posed in their uniforms in front of one of the buildings. The two men reclining on the ground are wearing white aprons. The photograph is stamped on the reverse, possibly with the name of the Forstei or maybe the photographer? The name Edgar R., written in pencil, also appears on the back. This photograph is mounted on decorated matting 282 x 222 cm. OS

A large collage of the portraits of men in the Forestry Service

This large collage is titled on top in Russian with the date 1912. Besides the portraits of the service men serving on the forestry camp it also includes the Russian men who were in charge of this camp and an outdoor view of the camp. The names of the persons in Russian are:

This photograph also appears in the book by Lawrence Klipppenstein and Jacob Dick, Mennonite Alternative Service in Russia on page 63 which is the section on the Forestry Service. The caption reads "How did the ladies get up there?"
