Scope and content

This is a photo of the students of the Commerce school presenting a play "The Wedding" (Svadjba). It seems that our good folks were always somewhat opposed to play-acting, but in spite of that the tickets always sold well. On such occasions the performers usually had "a full house". The girls of the Chortitza High School used to put on plays. The tickets were sold ahead of time and at 50 cents a piece. But soon a "black market" developed. The boys were suddenly eager for refinement and because of that the tickets sold privately for as much as three dollars a piece. [HR 202]
