Administrative history

The Church of the Way traces its beginning to a Bible Study that developed in Granisle and the attention of Ed Giesbrecht, pastor of First Mennonite Church at Burns Lake in 1973, who requested assistance from the conference. In 1974 the Missions Committee of the Conference of Mennonite in British Columbia sent George and Carol Born to Granisle, B.C. A transient mining population made it difficult to maintain sufficient numbers in the beginning. However, as time passed the congregation grew. They met in rented facilities until they had their own meeting house in 1979, when they adopted the name, Church of the Way, and officially became affiliated with the BC Conference of Mennonites.

(See GAMEO for name of leaders and membership numbers.)
