A food station at the Red Cross refugee home

No. 21 in a 2nd set of numbered photos from a tour of Berlin following the 6th Mennonite World Conference at Karlsruhe, Germany in 1957. Used in the CM 5-37-7. A food station at the Red Cross refugee home, Heim Dunant, where daily meals are prepared and dispatched for 5,000 refugees. Several men and a woman survey the containers at the back of the building. The photo is torn and the top part of it is adhered to the photo in 2010-14.484. No. 22 on C. J. Rempel's list is missing.

Entrance in the Russian zone in Berlin

No. 27 in a 2nd set of numbered photos from a tour of Berlin following the 6th Mennonite World Conference held in 1957 in Karlsruhe, Germany. Used in the CM 5-36-7, neg. only. Entrance in the Russian zone and in the Treptower Park to an impressive memorial in honor of the 7,000 Russian soldiers who lost their lives in the conquest of Berlin and are buried here in a mass grave. The large entrance includes an arch and is flanked by flag poles.
