Scope and content
This photo has been identified as : "Arrival of the first group of Russian Mennonite immigrants in Rosthern, Saskatchewan on July 23, 1923." However this has been called into question based on the engine in the photo, suggesting the engine is built by Union Pacific in 1934, known as the M-1000, which toured the Union Pacific System on a promotional tour. The engine was scrapped in the 1940s.
